Travel this summer on an airline

Traveling this summer is the same as buying a lottery ticket.  As the war in West Asia settles into a stalemate, fuel prices continue to climb.  Many airlines have started to cancel flights while reducing capacity.  A number of scenarios could occur before traveling for that long-awaited getaway, no plane, schedule change, re-routing. Travel got interesting.

In Europe, the EU announced airlines must compensate passengers if a flight is cancelled due to fuel shortage. Discount carrier Ryanair says, “Jet fuel prices are guaranteed until the end of May.”  Traveling in June could mean problems.  The airline will use altering flights. until March 2027.

Another side effect of the Gulf War, rising surcharges, faced with increasing costs, airlines are spreading the misery to flyers with higher ticket prices. British Airways issued a chilling warning on jet fuel prices reporting the it is “‘managing the uncertainty”.

German giant Lufthansa cut 20.000 flights from its schedule citing the fuel crisis.  Until September the 100-year-old airline will have fewer planes in the sky.

Do not allow the global woes to prevent a good time, plan short staycations this summer.  Become a tourist in your area by visiting local museums or attending summer events. Simple picnics are always rewarding.   There is no need to fly far from home to relax.  Life’s best pleasures maybe around the corner.
