Europe is at the beginning of a train travel renaissance. At InnoTrans 2026, operators and manufactures are pouring investment into modern forms of rail travel. The continent is aiming for more cross border locomotive travel with the ambition of having seamless passenger travel from the top of Norway to Portugal. Mass transit cars are being customized to accommodate long and overnight stretches. On the local commuter side, the emphasis is placed on “peace of mind” going from home to work. Ambient LED Interior lights on metro and regional trains will allow passengers to suffer less stress. Navigational systems incorporated into the technical designs of rolling stocks, riders can track when trains will arrive at stations or stops on smartphones.
