As Paris Fashion Week goes, looking over the collections from the city, one has to wonder if in some ways has the industry lost the sparkle. Yes, VIPs sashay in venues, pose for the throngs of photographers, escorted to the front row seat, waiting for the models to walk. For some reason, show after show, the yawn factor is setting in. The spectacle got a bit boring.
No amount of social media posts can cover up a so-so season when brands are grasping for attention. Fashion in some ways has become an almost uncontrollable circus taking place under a big tent. There are the ringmasters, clowns, trainers, and the audience. The insider nature of the business suddenly changed to humorousness without the humor.
What makes fashion is the fashion, the design, the materials, the cuts, the creativity. But that thinking passed away with the typewriter.
Is it time for an industry rethink? Only time will tell.
