Kulmbach in Upper Franconia is a small city close to Bayreuth, about 2:30 mins from Munich. Set on the shores of the River Main with a population of 26,000, Kulmbach is nestled in a valley overlooked by the massive Plassenburg Castle.
During a car drive back to Berlin, a Quick Stop made a favourable impression. With its small streets, charming town square, Kulmbach deserves time to explore.
