Shein

Is it any surprise about the success and the resentment of Shein in Paris?  The ultra-fast fashion brand has been to center of outrage and protest in the fashion capital.  The Gran Magasin BHV controversial move continues to reverberate as heritage labels pull from the Marais location. Nevertheless, customers may not notice the empty spaces while rummaging through the low-priced clothing.  Over 50.000 shoppers were reported to have patronised the store over the first five days of Shein concession opening as French Ready to Wear brands struggle, closing brick and mortar locations.

Top for 6.23 euros on Shein

As shoppers continue to get pressed by inflation, idealism takes a back seat to the wallet realities. Disposable polyester over lasting quality is the new black. The online consumption addiction has gripped shoppers. Everyday over 12 million low priced (Cheap Clothing) items enter the EU daily, many from Shein and rival Temu.  Even as the EU considers steps taming the cheap style stickers with taxes, non-advertising rules and other guidelines. Paris authorities have banned the Chinese company from hosting an outdoor Christmas event. Yet, this could be too little, too late. Digital savvy buyers will continue flocking to bargain basement offers not matter the ramshackle obstacles.
