Another day, yet the questionable fashion business models stay the same. Once again, Italian authorities raided the offices of several luxury brands concerning shady outsourcing practices in production supply chains. Chinese workers have been reported to work as much as 80 hours a week.   

Alledeged labour abuse by subcontractors using sweatshop employees came under scrutiny.  Chanel, Brunello Cucinelli, Etro and Moncler were mentioned in the II Sole 24 Ore report.  

Made in Italy”, once associated with luxury quality, has suffered over the years because of the ongoing negative headlines covering the fashion industry’s manufacturing methods.  Perhaps buyers may need to give a side eye look when considering purchasing thier next high-price tagged garb.
