The word seems to be gripped by a plague, Overtourism. Cheap plane tickets, selfie sticks and travel influencers have contributed to an explosive problem. City residents are now in open revolt against the tourists. In Barcelona, local protesters spray visitors with water guns. In Italy, beautiful coastal cities are more ant beds people teeming the narrow streets in two directions. The center of Prague is no longer inhabited by natives out overrun by cheap souvenir stores. In Berlin, taking the Sbahn train on the weekend is a nightmare, the cars are overcrowded with visitors navigating the sprawling capital.
The problem: everyone suffers from the Overtourism affliction either as a tourist or a resident.
