BVG Berlin

Of course, it is January 5th, four days after the new year. What is the tradition in Berlin, a more expensive metro ticket. The BVG increased the price from 3.80 to 4 euros riding the AB zone. Why is a public transport in Berlin more expensive than Paris at 2.50 with its 321 stations? Yet again, paying more for a two hour, one way ticket. Even the ticket seller at the kiosk thought the charge was too much. What makes this so curious is the German Capital is trying to get more people out of cars.

On an icy -4 degree day when so many need the public transport, this comes across as a bit of price gouging. What exactly do riders get for this extra .20 cents? The metro cars are overcrowded. Some of the bus lines in the city center are on 20 min intervals. There are are always line delays. Many stations are stretched, in need of repair. The Senefelderplatz station on the U2 has been under renovation for so long, when it started children who were in elementary school are now in junior high.

As a bike rider, spring cannot come fast enough.
