All's Fair

A lot of bad reviews hit the Internet when All’s Fair debuted from HULU and Disney+.  Expecting the negative winds, I took them a with a grain of salt.  Anything with a Kardashian name was bound to bring out the “Hate Cola Drinkers” as we say. The star-studded line up with Oscar Nominees Glenn Close and Naomi Watts, the awards pedigree of Sarah Paulson, Judith Light and Niecy Nash acting along-side Kim K gave the streaming series a level of credibility. In the middle of a wet, cold working afternoon, I had to watch it for myself. Certainly, I was not expecting I Claudius, but a bit of turn off your brain entertainment from super producer Ryan Murphy and team.

A female centered legal drama set in LA, how hard could that be to pull off?  Sun, wealth, sex, celebrity, toned bodies and Botox injections are ready made to be recycled and retold for campy tv. Sadly, that did not happen. All’s Fair was annoying to the point of disturbingly bad, indefensible.  Describing a plot would be a waste, just stream the show.

Where the haters right? It is according to what side of the fence you happen to be on: one of the over 350 million IG followers of the reality show superstar or the other side.  The Kardashian Machine is impervious to bad press. Many reviews have called it the “Worst TV Show” ever made, some going so far as to give the “female empowering” episodes minus stars.  How is that possible? Despite the bad notices, All’s Fair had over 3.5 million viewers on the first night, the highest numbers in HULU history. It’s a safe bet these ladies got a nice check, along with some nice parting gifts from the luxury product placement.

This reviewer got through the pilot.  NO MORE!
