June is the beginning of the travel season for many. Some think about the beach while others think about the mountains. However, I tend to favor taking a long haul venture in the Fall. Chile, a country of around 20 million offers the best of all options for a quest under the sun in autumn, miles of beaches and peak terrains. The South American nation indeed is an exciting blend with many accoutrements from the bustling vibe of capital city Santiago to icy landscapes. LATAM, the Chilean carrier, offers global flights from 27 countries to the Latin American nation.
During the ITB Berlin, Black and Paper spoke to the LATAM team about the airline’s services with the emphasis on the flying experience.
How is the airline sustainable?
LATAM Airlines has positioned itself as one of the most sustainable airlines in the Americas and globally. They focus on reducing emissions intensity by 6% by 2030 through fleet renewal with more fuel-efficient aircraft, operational efficiency using AI and data, and the expansion of Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF). The airline eliminated 97% of single-use plastics, manages extensive CO2 offset projects like conserving floodplains in Colombia, and follows a circular economy through waste reduction and recycling initiatives. LATAM’s “Solidarity Aircraft” program supports communities by transporting people and cargo free of charge. Their commitment earned them recognition as a Top Sustainability Performer by S&P Global in February 2026, among the top five airlines in the world.

Why would a traveller fly LATAM over another carrier?
LATAM offers a strong value proposition featuring modern, fuel-efficient aircraft, a broad network connecting 161 destinations in 27 countries, and a focus on customer experience. Ranking highest in customer satisfaction in the region with an NPS of 55. Benefits include warm and personalized South American hospitality, complimentary snacks and drinks on many flights, high-quality in-flight entertainment including popular streaming services, and award-winning premium cabins. LATAM Pass is South America’s leading loyalty program, offering a robust ecosystem composed of more than 100 financial and commercial partnerships to its over 54 million members worldwide. Recognitions such as “Airline Loyalty Program of the Year” further reinforce its reputation.
Economy class, what are the specs?
LATAM’s Economy class features ergonomic seats with headrests and USB chargers at every seat. The cabin offers complimentary snacks and drinks on many flights. Efforts to enhance comfort include free Wi-Fi coverage on nearly 100% of the narrow-body fleet and a diverse in-flight entertainment system with over 300 films and 800 music tracks. The airline also introduced plant-based options on domestic flights and has redesigned interiors for a more comfortable and standardized experience across their fleet.
Chile is a large country, is there a particular destination?
Chile is the longest country in the world, and as a result, LATAM Airlines passengers can discover its remarkable diversity through a robust network of 17 destinations connected via the country’s most strategic gateways. From the enigmatic moai of Easter Island via Mataveri Airport to the unique landscapes and the driest desert on Earth in San Pedro de Atacama (via Calama), LATAM brings Chile’s wonders closer than any other airline.

In the southern region of the country, passengers can visit the imposing granite towers of Torres del Paine (via Puerto Natales or Punta Arenas), or explore lakes and rivers through Puerto Montt, as well as the Marble Caves via Balmaceda. Altogether, our network ensures a seamless journey to the end of the world.
